- APPLICATIONS ARE NO LONGER BEING ACCEPTED FOR THE SUMMER 2012 PROGRAMS-
Once Scholar Recruit has received your completed application for admission into the Global Scholar Program, your application is eligible for review.
The process has two main parts – a review and a letter informing the student/family of decisions.
I. Review Process
A. All complete applications must be received by January 31, 2012.
B. The review committee, a trained team of College Board of Examiners, evaluates applications. Each application is assessed by three different examiners. Applicants are rated on a scale of 1-5, with 5 being the highest possible rating. Students are rated on their entire application. An application is deemed to have been successfully reviewed and rated if two of three examiners share in their final scoring. (i.e. two examiners must have assessed the same point value to an application). If there is not a majority rating, a fourth examiner will read and rate the application. (Early February 2012)
C. Selected applicants will be notified that they must complete a phone interview for further consideration. Select applicants will not be required to conduct a phone interview. Candidates that are required to conduct a phone interview will be notified via e-mail. Not all applicants will receive this notification, as one might not be needed for a decision to be made. Similarly, applicants that receive a phone interview will not automatically be guaranteed entry into the program. (Late February 2012)
II. Acceptance Process:
All applicants will be notified of their status via e-mail or regular mail. Status’ will be broken down into the following categories (Early March 2012):
A. Finalist: If you are selected as a Finalist, you will have the option to accept or decline admission into the Summer 2012 Global Scholar Program. Once notified, Finalists will have 14 days to decide whether to accept or decline a seat in the program. If the Finalist chooses to accept, a deposit of half of the total amount of the program must be submitted with the acceptance documentation.
B. Semi-Finalist: If you are selected as a Semi-Finalist, you will have to wait until the end of March 2012 for further status updates regarding your application. A notification of your status as a Semi-Finalist does not mean you will gain entry into the program, nor does it mean that a spot will not open for you.
C. Candidate: If you are selected as a Candidate for admission into the program, you will have to wait until the end of March 2012 for further status updates regarding your application. A notification of your status as a Candidate does not mean that a spot will not open up for you in the 2012 programs.
D. Future Candidate: If you are selected as a Future Candidate, you will not be admitted into the 2012 programs. Candidates will be notified of why the Selection Committee made its decision. Often, an incomplete application or a weak application will be the reason a candidate has not been selected. The review committee will provide feedback as to how you may better your application for next year.
